Description

Responsibilities may include :

  • Able to perform repair work on electric motors, complex shutdown systems, UPS systems, PILC terminations, EPR cable terminations, relay testing - microprocessor and electromechanical substation maintenance, substation breaker maintenance, medium voltage and high voltage substation battery testing, transformer maintenance, testing breaker control schemes and other associated equipment
  • Able to troubleshoot, dismantle, repair and reassemble the disabled equipment following verbal and written safety and job task work directions
  • Able to read and interpret manuals, standards, schematics, wiring diagrams and federal, state and local codes and regulations
  • Climbing and lifting, may be required to work in confined spaces or at elevated heights
  • Knowing and observing safe work practices including wearing Personnel Protective Equipment i.e., fire retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, safety gloves, hearing protection, safety harness, and breathing apparatus (respirator and SCBA.)
  • Meeting physical criteria for the job, and pass drug and alcohol screenings
  • Passing electrician or craft skills assessment tests
  • See color (color vision.)
  • Overtime and/or shift work for extended periods of time depending on workload/schedule

Qualifications

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in job posting country
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, electrical logic and loop diagrams, motor control center breakers, starters and switch gear
  • Ability to understand and carry out work direction in a safe manner
  • 2 or more years of direct experience in the refinery and/or chemical industry
  • 2 or more years of direct experience as industrial electrician and/or process instrumentation shop

Preferred:

  • Electrical Certification
  • High voltage experience
  • Ability to read/comprehend manuals, schematics, blueprints, graphs, charts, and diagrams
  • Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and identify corrective actions
  • Five years of direct experience in using test equipment and procedures, National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable government and plant standards/regulations (OSHA, ANSI, health, and safety), lock out/tag out procedures, unit start-up/shut-down procedures7, firefighting techniques/procedures, rigging equipment/procedures/practices, and instrumentation terminology, procedures, and practices
  • Five years of direct experience using the following items: hand tools, measurement tools and devices and power tools
  • Work without close supervision
