Description

Phillips 66 Canada Crude Oil Supply and Trading has an opportunity in our Calgary AB office for a Crude Oil Trader . The Crude Trader will work in a team of crude traders to develop and execute crude oil trading opportunities to supply our refineries and trade for profit, both regionally and globally, as part of our Global Trading Team.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Consulting with Supply to determine refinery requirements, and developing optionality in crude supplies

  • Working with traders in our Trading offices across the world to develop and implement trading strategies

  • Developing and enhancing counter-party relationships in order to expand our market presence and increase trading potential

  • Entering deal details into our Deal Capture System

  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of company's crude oil supply activities

  • Consulting with Refinery Supply Traders to determine monthly refinery requirements for Domestic Gulf Coast sour crude grades for the prompt trading month.

  • Identifying and developing speculative crude oil trading opportunities for domestic crude grades. This includes intermonth trades and futures opportunities.

  • Sharing market intelligence across regions and trading disciplines.

  • Developing multiple third party outlets for sourced domestic crude oil grades. Requires gaining and maintaining an understanding of third party crude oil requirements and economics.

  • Developing and maintaining a detailed understanding of P66 crude oil supply activities in order to support and/or back-up crude traders.

  • Developing a detailed understanding of pricing methods and liquid financial instruments available.

  • Liaise with Supply Directors, Risk, Accounting departments, local management, Houston headquarters personnel, counterparties and pipeline carriers.

Position Requirements

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3 or more years of Commercial experience

  • 5 or more years of Energy Industry experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred:

  • 2 or more years Energy trading experience

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with preference for action, accountability, and developing alternatives and solutions

  • Entrepreneurial skills

  • Strong negotiating skills

  • Ability to lead effectively through influence
