The Associate Field Engineer will provide technical service, product application, product field testing, training, and engineering support to assure customer satisfaction and to support the broader achievement of strategic growth and earnings initiatives and objectives. Develop lubricant application expertise by working closely with field lubricant engineers. Develop lubricant troubleshooting and lab expertise by working closely with technical coordinators.
Responsibilities May Include
Provide technical engineering support of lubricant products and applications to lubricant marketers and consumers/end users.
Serve as a technical liaison with lubricant consumers/end users, Phillips 66 field engineering personnel and Bartlesville tech services team.
Prioritize and coordinate activities with Director, Field Technical Services to facilitate business unit goals.
Develop and maintain strong working and commercial relationships with end users and marketers to support new and continued sales.
Investigate product performance and product quality complaints; Successfully trouble-shoot lubrication concerns from existing and potential customers.
Provide technical training to lubricant marketers and consumers/end users; Make technical presentations and prescriptions.
Identify new product opportunities that support business strategies, and work with R&D, marketing, operations, etc., to commercialize.
Seek lubricant product approvals with original equipment manufacturers. Work with products team to assist with field trials.
Conduct lubrication surveys.
Provide oversight to verify compliance of marketers with Marketer Operations Standard. Promote best practices in the storage, handling and application of lubricants.
Back up coverage for Technical Hotline incoming calls.
Oversee Oil Analysis Program.
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Science discipline
Proficient with personal computer software and Microsoft Office products
2 or more years technical experience in lubricants industry
Excellent knowledge of lubrication principles
Lubricant product line knowledge and engineering background
Very good knowledge of lubricant product performance tests and oil analysis methods/interpretation
Well-developed troubleshooting and incident resolution skills
Good understanding of the business relationships between lubricant manufacturers, marketers, direct customers, end users and competitors
5 years of direct technical marketing/sales in lubricants
STLE CLS Certification
Mechanical experience in rotating or plant equipment
Excellent knowledge of equipment used in automotive, surface and underground mining, natural gas transmission, power plant operations and various industries
Excellent teamwork, network, communication, presentation/training, technical writing and interpersonal skills
Ability to work as an individual and in a group
Proven ability to solve complex problems and influence others
Handles difficult situations constructively and tactfully
