The Commercial Business Systems Architect is part of the Commerical, Marketing, and Lubes (CMLS) Digital IT Business Solution team. This unique role provides the opportunity to work across the Commercial business value chain including Global Trading, US Scheduling, Global Market Analysis, Midstream Commercial (NGL), Global Marine, Surface Transportation Logistics, Risk and Compliance, Commercial F&PA, and Accounting Operations. The criticality of the Commercial organization is maximizing general interest profitability by sourcing, lower-cost feedstocks to our refineries, while leveraging our asset optionality and global market presence to generate value coupled with digital transformation creates a unique opportunity and challenge within the Phillips 66 environment.

The role will help lead technical and strategic direction for business critical systems. With ongoing programs and the drive to mature the Phillips66 digital footprint, there are abundant opportunities to lead changes. The role will help research, define, and implement tools, strategies, and innovations in support of the digital transformation and long-term operational efficiencies. The role will have the opportunity to consult with numerous businesses, IT groups, and projects on the design and implementation of key IT solutions. The role will also have responsibility for the interface design, data management and governance of current and future IT solutions. Collaborating with others to facilitate common approaches and optimized architectural synergies and standardization across projects will be key for success. A key focus for this role is to enable business value by leveraging and exploiting IT systems or processes.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and sound analytical thinking are essential for success in this position. A strong sense of ownership and a drive to improve existing systems and processes is also needed. The ideal candidate has a passion for learning new things, ability to explain complex technologies in a simple manner to leadership audience, strong intellectual integrity, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Translate business and user requirements into accurate system/design documents to provide world class solutions.

  • Promote best practices for sustainable application design.

  • Maintain visibility across multiple workstreams/efforts and facilitate communication and alignment across multiple working teams.

  • Create and socialize strategies to reduce the level of human intervention required to operate, maintain, and optimize processes and critical systems.

  • Lead the adoption of new cloud-based technologies in operations environment to promote efficiency and accelerate value delivery.

  • Assure solutions are designed to meet or exceed security and audit requirements and conduct design Audits.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5 or more years of IT experience

  • Experience with execution of large enterprise-wide solutions

  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or relevant field of study

  • 3 or more years of experience in architecting and integrating systems

  • 3 or more years of experience in relevant oil & gas or technical industry experience, especially downstream

  • 3 or more years of experience in ERP, mobile/web applications, cloud migrations, or data management

  • 3 or more years of architectural experience developing enterprise level strategies and designs

  • Familiarity with modern development and architecture construct

  • Experience integrating with SAP

  • Experience in building and designing systems on cloud platforms – AWS and/or Azure

  • Experience in application modernization and optimization in the cloud environments

  • General IT policy knowledge

  • Able to work in a team environment focused on achieving results

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong written and oral communication

  • Able to present ideas and influence others
