Phillips 66 is accepting applications for a Mechanical Engineer position within the Facilities & Services, Projects, Planning and Engineering organization. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for completing mechanical designs for piping systems, structural components, vessels, and machines in support of facilities, laboratories, and pilot plants. Activities include reviewing and creating mechanical designs as well as the associated drawings, bills of materials, and fabrication/installation scopes of work. The position will also provide support for site maintenance and projects.
Responsibilities May Include
Perform job duties safely and champion the safety of others.
Contact clients, develop scope of work (including gathering field information), and design solutions to meet the needs of the groups supported.
Develop mechanical designs, including associated drawings, bills of materials, and scopes of work.
Apply knowledge of industry and company standards to design activities.
Utilize drafting conventions and techniques using CAD software (AutoCAD).
Review and approve design packages from external engineering firms for large projects.
Provide site maintenance support, as needed. Technical support for projects and long-term preventative/predictive maintenance for mechanical equipment.
Work with lab, pilot plant, and maintenance groups to implement mechanical designs and maintain systems.
Collaborate and communicated effectively with stakeholders.
Provide technical support to PSM covered areas (PHAs, Process Safety Information, etc.) as well as to rotating and fixed equipment inspections, testing and maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications
Legally authorized to work in the posting country
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline
Proactive approach to safety with a good working safety record
3 or more years of engineering experience with mechanical design, pressure vessel design/fabrication, piping design/fabrication, or a related field
3 or more years of experience with industry codes and standards
Experience working in a refinery/ petrochemical plant, OR with related industrial equipment (such as vessels, pumps, compressors, etc.)
Previous experience with CAD software
Willingness and ability (with or without a reasonable accommodation) to perform/comply with following:
Climb ladders and stairs
Wear personal protective equipment
Work outside in a variety of weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
5 or more years of engineering experience
Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 1 year
Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills with the ability to positively interact and establish relationships with internal/external customers, evaluate alternatives and make decisions based on sound business criteria
Proficient with SAP PM, PCMS and/or other inspection and maintenance software
5 or more years’ experience with pressure vessel and piping design, fabrication, maintenance, and inspections
Able to organize and prioritize work and manage several projects simultaneously
Demonstrates mechanical proficiency
Working knowledge of ASME, ASTM, and API standards and codes for pressure vessels, pressure relieve devices design, and inspection
Working knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, metallurgy, process instrumentation, automation, and electrical design
Ability to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities
Strong communication skills, verbal and written
Motivated self-starter
