The role of Refining and Midstream (R&M) Data Platform Product Owner is to serve as a strategic partner between key business stakeholders, technical delivery teams, IT Enterprise Architecture and Project Management Office for data, analytics and integration to drive data-driven decision-making. Data Platform Product Owner, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data platform and understand the strategic roadmap to support and enable the business’s strategy and data management activities through projects, enhancements, operational activities.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the R&M Data and integration team’s strategy, partnering with Business Solutions teams, ensuring integration and data patterns are followed, establish governance and access management policies and executing projects/initiatives unlocking value through data and analytics.
Responsibilities May Include:
Provide day-to-day leadership and prioritization of data, analytics and integration backlogs.
Define and prioritize product features based on key stakeholder specifications and feedback, aligned with business goals.
Lead long range planning exercise (product feature set) with key stakeholder in effort to build project portfolio against planned operational activities.
Utilize agile ways of working (Kanban) to manage product backlog, iteration planning/reviews, etc.
Develop and execute common data governance strategy.
Regular updates on progress, challenges, and key decisions to leaders and key stakeholders regarding product development, including improvement plans where necessary.
Establish and cultivate relationships with our business, technical, and functional teams.
Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor's degree
Proven experience as a Product Owner in a data platform or related role
Ability to balance multiple initiatives
Strong organizational and communication skills
Strong understanding of data management, data analytics, and data visualization
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and understandable language for non-technical stakeholders
Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, MIS equivalent
5 or more years of experience in IT functional support, business analyst, project management, data analytics, data modelling, data governance or relevant experience
Working experience with project process methodologies
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with IT and business partners
Ability to work with all levels of the IT organization (leadership, technical, and non-technical)
Familiarity with IT tools such as ServiceNow, Power Platform, Azure DevOps, Azure/AWS cloud offerings etc.
Experience with Time Series data, graph database technologies, KQL
