The Process Supervisor reports to the Business Team Leader at the Alliance Refinery. This position is responsible for directing and coordinating all operational activities, within the respective area to safely and efficiently produce on grade products and process streams while adhering to all company and governmental policies, guidelines and regulations. The position is responsible for coordinating initiatives of various resource groups to ensure activities are aligned with the safe and efficient operation of the complex.
Responsibilities May Include
Providing updates on daily operating and maintenance activities for the area. Ensuring unit/area issues are presented, properly documented and immediate response actions taken.
Working with the Shift Field Supervisors, Planning and Coordination and the other PSs to develop and communicate operational guidelines for the area daily.
Working with the Shift Field Supervisors, Planning and Coordination and the other PSs to effectively resolve refinery operational upsets and unusual operations.
Effectively integrating major changes to planned work or major equipment outages In to on-going work. Coordinating the assignment of critical resources with the Shift Field Supervisors, Maintenance, Technical and other PSs.
Continuously balancing near-term objectives versus long-term objectives. Ensuring near-term operating targets are met while maintaining unit reliability and achieving expected unit run lengths.
Providing guidance on long-term Capital and Major Maintenance expense opportunities and prioritization.
Approving work notifications and developing priorities for maintenance planning and scheduling.
Modifying and certifying operating procedures, as needed, to reflect MOC and other needed changes.
Participating in management of change process as the operations specialist.
Participating in unit and project PHAs as an Operations specialist.
Monitoring safety of personnel and equipment in the area and participating in facility safety and other audits.
Ensuring area compliance with Refinery and Corporate practices and standards.
Ensuring area compliance with environmental rules and limits.
Driving optimization of area with respect to unit constraints, performance/yields, energy consumption and operational expense (e.g., rentals).
Assisting in establishing training objectives and developing strategy to ensure operators are trained and qualified.
Providing guidance on operator development including assignment to project and work-up roles and identification of future area leadership candidates.
Participating in area incident investigations.
Monitoring project implementation and overseeing operational support to projects and turnarounds.

High school diploma or GED equivalent
5 or more years of direct experience in refinery process operations or technical support
Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic.
Lead Operator/Console Trained Operator qualified in the respective area
5 or more years of Refinery Operations supervisory experience
3 or more years of direct experience at a refinery
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact with multiple layers of organization
Ability to analyze data and rationalize to decisions that add value to the business
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Strong leadership skills
Strong computer skills
The Alliance Refinery is located on the Mississippi River in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, approximately 25 miles southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. The singletrain facility includes crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization, aromatics and delayed coking units. It processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. The refinery receives domestic crude oil through a combination of pipelines, marine transportation and terminals. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, home heating oil and anodegrade petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers in the southeastern and eastern United States through major pipeline systems and by barge. Refined products are exported primarily to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
