The Consultant, Asset Optimization has accountability for several key activities within the Phillips 66 Midstream Business including:

  • Lead the Capital Long Range Plan development process for Midstream

  • Provide asset/operations simulation modeling for Midstream and other business units within Phillips 66 in support ort of value chain optimization, asset optimization and constraint removal efforts

  • Provide project investment appraisal analyses for Midstream and cross-functional projects

  • Provide leadership in data analytics and visualization efforts

Responsibilities May Include

  • Facilitate the annual Midstream capital LRP development and provide process and tools technical support

  • Own and maintain the LRP process and tools including the Midstream economic model

  • Conduct project economic analyses using the Midstream economic model

  • Develop asset optimization/simulation models and lead cross-functional optimization projects to enhance general interest value via increased revenue or cost savings

  • Develop simulation models using Simul8 / Visual8 modeling software

  • Lead development of automated reports for the Midstream Engineering & Projects organization using Alteryx and Tableau

  • Work cross-functionally and be accountable for delivering results within time commitments

Position Requirements


  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Technical/Analytical related discipline

  • 8 or more years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with emphasis in Midstream Operations

  • Strong skills in Data Analytics, Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, etc.

  • 3 or more years of experience in an analytical role in support of business focused analysis and decisions


  • 3 or more years of direct experience in asset and value chain optimization

  • 1 or more years of economic/statistical analysis and economic modeling experience

  • 1 or more years direct experience with Simulation Modeling

  • Familiar with Terminal operations

  • High degree of collaborative skills, personal drive and dedication to achieve team goals and general interest objectives

  • Strong interpersonal skills characterized by effective communication, teamwork, influence, and the ability to quickly develop trust and establish strong relationships and drive result

  • Sound business acumen with knowledge of key value drivers

  • Ability to lead teams or participate in a team in a collaborative manner

  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to review complex processes and controls

  • Excellent written and oral communication and influence skills

  • Ability to progress multiple tasks concurrently

  • Work independently


Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 21,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from a refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
