The Catalyst & Precious Metals Category Specialist will support the Category Procurement function by defining sourcing opportunities, developing and aligning sourcing strategies, managing supplier performance, analyzing market conditions, and negotiating with suppliers & internal partners to optimize value. The Category Specialist is accountable for all suppliers within their assigned sub-categories, potentially including precious metals inventory management and various refining catalysts for reforming, isomerization, benzene saturation, hydro processing and fluidized catalytic cracking applications and is required to exert influence and exhibit leadership to deliver the desired results.
Responsibilities May Include
Develop and manage 3-5-year sub-category supply strategies with appropriate stakeholders highlighting current and projected market size, company spend patterns, cost/margin structure, threats, risks and demand/supply trends.
Develop and maintain market data collection practices to identify strategic value opportunities.
Manage Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for applicable sub-categories while minimizing risk and exposure.
Manage supplier performance with appropriate stakeholders for applicable sub-categories by performing supplier performance assessments, developing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and maintaining healthy supplier relationships.
Perform quantitative analysis to support functional decision-making category strategies development.
Plan and conduct agreement negotiations.
Coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) process with technical stakeholders and suppliers for purchases in applicable sub-categories.
Draft and execute agreements (master, compensation, outline, etc.) using company approved templates with assistance from appropriate SMEs.
Manage and maintain Business Unit (BU) stakeholder relationships to verify supplier performance, stay abreast of market dynamics, and understand operations objectives that could alter short- and long-term sub-category strategies.
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
5 or more years of relevant work experience
Advanced understanding of relevant category management or supply chain functional processes
5 or more years of experience independently applying data analysis techniques to inform category strategy approach and solve complex problems
5 or more years of experience working with and influencing multiple business partners
Self-motivated with a proven ability to communicate effectively, synthesize information from multiple sources, manage competing priorities, and adapt quickly to change while delivering results
Advanced Microsoft Office skills
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering or related field
Experience in category management or procurement
Extensive knowledge in SAP, Business Warehouse, Ariba, Qliksense and other procurement technologies (e.g., e-Sourcing, Contract Management, Supplier Relationship Performance Management, Data Analytics)
Direct experience with refining catalyst procurement and/or precious metals management processes
ISM, IACCM or other relevant certification
