The Corporate Insurance - Director of Insurance will report to the Corporate Insurance Manager and be responsible for the annual management of insurance policies, including overseeing insurance analyst's responsibilities, as well as any other projects as deemed necessary. The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of property, business interruption, general liability, directors & officers, marine, and aviation insurance products and structures. In addition, candidate should have working knowledge of captive insurance companies. Analytical skills must include the ability to model and prepare complex tools using Excel and other applications.
Responsibilities May Include
Responsible for overseeing preparation of underwriting submission in order to facilitate efficient placement of insurance policies in conjunction with outside brokers.
Developing analysis and reporting as needed for Insurance Manager.
Preparing management reports and communicating effectively with senior level management in refining, procurement and finance.
Keeping apprised of any changes in industry or legislative matters relating contractual requirements, as well as general insurance topics.
Providing support to business development group to assist with either purchase or sale agreements while ensuring insurance objectives are appropriately addressed within the agreements.
Acting as liaison with internal and external parties to research inquiries and provide responses.
Leading the efforts to solve problems including clarifying, interpreting, analyzing complex information and develops recommendations for Insurance Manager considerations.
Reviewing procurement contracts to ensure compliance with insurance department's objectives and provide functional approval.
Working with JV partners to determine appropriate insurance program for entity.
Leading projects as needed.
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
10 or more years of insurance experience with an insurance carrier, broker or similar corporate role
CPCU, ARM or other insurance designations or continuing education
7 or more years of experience managing large corporate insurance programs involving utility or energy related exposures
4 or more years of experience working with captive insurance programs
Proficient in Microsoft office products, especially PowerPoint and Excel
Risk management experience
Ability to successfully lead projects to completion though efficient coordination of 3rd party providers and internal stakeholders
Refining, Midstream, Petrochemical or HSE experience
Contract negotiation experience
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Strong planning and organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
Ability to assist multiple activities timely and a high degree of accuracy
