The corporate Process Control Network (PCN) Lead reports to the Direction of Industrial Control Systems in the Refinery Business Improvement Organization. The PCN Lead provides technical expertise, strategy development, leadership and ownership for the process control system and related activities across Refining.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Lead and promote the Process Control Network (PCN) across the company to enhance knowledge sharing through participation on technical networks, project reviews, and technology evaluations.

  • Provide technical guidance and assistance relative to the company process control system (primarily Honeywell) hardware and applications.

  • Own and maintain a corporate test bed.

  • Develop key strategies such as Virtualization, Migrations, Controller performance improvement, procedure automation and alarm management.

  • Lead and promote the development of Required Standards, Refining Engineering Practices (REPs), Directives, Best Practices and Guidelines.

  • Support the Non-Routine DCS Obsolescence Capital Long Range Plan (LRP) development in conjunction with the central project group.

  • Own the On-Process Migration (OPM) company strategy, share best practices and provide support for sites as needed.

  • Own the Controller Performance Monitor (CPM) application and support site utilization and associated work processes.

  • Support Alarm Management related activities including ownership of the Alarm Management required standard and collection of related metrics.

  • Support Management of Change (MOC) work processes related to process control.

  • Participate in vendor advisory board meetings, such as Honeywell User Input Subcommittee (UIS) and technical standards committees.

  • Participate in the development and execution of vendor Master Software License, Maintenance and Service Agreements (e.g. Honeywell SE&SP), supporting contracts and preferred supplier agreements.

  • Ensure that all Refining Business Units are informed of and are addressing Process Control System technical advisories and alerts (e.g. Honeywell Be-Aware Advisories).

  • Work in conjunction with the Refining Cybersecurity Lead and Director ICS Network Support and Cybersecurity roles in the identification and implementation of leveraged services between IT and ICS.

  • Provide support for site incident investigations for control system events (e.g. Loss of Control, Loss of View).

Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting company.

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license

  • 10 or more years of extensive experience with Honeywell control system equipment

  • 3 or more years of experience specifically with Honeywell Experion control systems

  • Has participated in an On-Process Migration Activity in some role (e.g. supported, lead)

  • Knowledgeable in Process Control Configuration practices and methodologies

  • Knowledgeable in Ethernet networks, network topologies, communication protocols and information management systems (PC’s, firewalls, switches, routers, servers, operating systems)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Science

  • Knowledgeable of the Emerson DeltaV control system

  • 10 or more years of experience with instrumentation

  • Knowledgeable in control room ergonomic and human factors designs

  • Knowledgeable in Alarm Management

  • Knowledgeable in HMI design and Application

  • Knowledgeable in Process Control and Advanced Process Control

  • Has implemented or maintained a virtualized platform for level 2 or level 3 devices

  • Able to accurately and clearly communicate both technical and practical information

  • Desire to develop and strengthen skills with process control and instrumentation technology

  • Ability to work independently as well as work in a diverse team-based working environment.

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point and ability to present information in a graphic format
