The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in leading to the success of machine learning and artificial intelligence projects across the company, by partnering with respective business owners and leveraging data to identify areas of improvement & optimization. S/he will build deliverables like business process automation, equipment health monitoring tools, demand forecasting models, prescriptive energy optimization systems etc. that provide edge to business decision making and can scale with growth. The role sits in the sweet spot between technology and business worlds and provides opportunity for growth, high business impact and working with seasoned business leaders

Responsibilities May Include

  • Architect and implement a state-of-the-art AI/ML ecosystem.

  • Integrate end-to-end AI/ML solutions into existing and future domain specific systems.

  • Implement Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) pipelines and systems.

  • Creating systems for storing, extracting, transferring, loading, and modeling data to be used for both production systems and machine learning projects.

  • Implementing data engineering systems in Microsoft Azure, AWS, Hana, and other systems, including open-source data science tools to meet the needs of our internal customers.

  • Building end-to-end solutions to solve high value business needs in a sustainable, innovative manner.

  • Engaging in constant process improvement, always looking for opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce failures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a computer related field, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or the physical sciences

  • 8 or more years relevant work experience in software development & data engineering

  • AI/ML modeling experience (feature engineering, regression, classification, clustering, NLP, computer vision, etc.) .

  • AI/ML lifecycle experience (problem definition, data gathering, training, testing, deployment, MLOps pipelines).

  • Prior experience with MLOps pipelines.

  • Understanding of the scientific python ecosystem (scipy, numpy, pandas, scikit-learn).

  • Understanding of modeling capability with ML libraries like Tensorflow or PyTorch.

  • Experience with ML Software like AWS Sagemaker, Databricks or Dataiku.

  • Cloud Experience with Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.

  • Advanced understanding of Azure analytics platform - Data Lake, Data Factory, Data Bricks, Azure Synapse, Event Hub, Azure APIM, etc.

  • Able to understand the diverse business requirements and be able to translate those requirements into applicable solutions.

  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, etc.

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java Scala, or Python and technologies like SQL, NoSQL, Spark, etc.

  • Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles.

  • Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • 10 or more years relevant work experience in software development & data engineering

  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including Agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent teamwork skills

  • Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse audiences

  • Ability to write clear proposals and technical documents
