This is a 12 month contract position. The main function of the role is to assist in managing the accounts receivable exposure of UK credit in line with Global Credit Policy. Support corporate strategies where possible whilst seeking to minimise potential bad debt losses

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Work with the UK Marketing and Europe Commercial businesses upon review of new and existing customers’ creditworthiness, establishing credit limits, obtaining payment security where appropriate to manage risk in accordance with Global Credit Policy Monitoring and reporting trade receivables balances for UK Marketing and Europe Commercial to ensure trading is conducted within agreed credit limits in accordance with established corporate policies and guidelines.

  • Co-ordinate with Collections, Finance, Marketing and Trading functions to ensure prompt resolution of payment defaults Communicate & work closely with Credit Group and UK Marketing Sales areas regarding any analysis or risk issues Responsible for Credit Risk Insurance within relevant UK Marketing Sales sector(s) Liaison between International Commercial trading groups and Credit Evaluations group in the U.S. upon Commercial Trading credit issues. Draft and review requests for credit facilities to support Commercial trading groups.

  • Co-ordinate with International Commercial, customers and banks upon required security mechanisms such as Letters of credit, and Parent Company guarantees.

  • Monitor closely the termination of exposure and release of security to ensure that appropriate security is in place as required. Maintenance of online or paper Credit Files, with audit trail of Credit approvals, in compliance with agreed SOX processes.

  • Maintenance of security held to ensure validity and fit for purpose Manage Doubtful Debt provision in respect of customer portfolio Creation and review of periodic reports upon credit functional performance for Treasury management within agreed time format and in line with expectations.

  • Escalate analysis and risk issues to Manager Cash Banking and Credit in a timely and informative manner Represent Credit Group in both internal and external meetings when and where required Co-ordinate and monitor the issuance of payment security upon behalf of international Phillips 66 subsidiaries to support trading.

  • Prepare and submit requests for Letters of Credit ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained; monitor draw-down against trade credit facilities with relationship banks.

Critical Skills

  • You are legally authorised to work in the United Kingdom on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions

  • Degree in Finance or other related discipline

  • Professional Credit qualification preferred

  • Good working knowledge of SAP

  • Breadth of Finance experience, including working with a business and analytical experience or recognised accounting qualification.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to respond to internal and external customer requests and translate opportunities into commercial value for P66

  • Must maintain a high level of accuracy with attention to detail

  • Willingness to make independent credit decisions within defined authorities.

  • Willingness and ability to escalate issues in a timely manner

  • Rigorous & well organised – attention to detail.

  • Controls focus. Well developed communication skills – written for credit proposals.

  • Ability to work upon a diverse range of tasks and to prioritize effectively to ensure that functional goals are achieved

  • Good team player: ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team

Phillips 66 has significant marketing operations in Europe. In the UK the business is primarily wholesale, selling fuels to distributors (some of whom are branded JET) and resellers. The fuels are either collected by customers or delivered through a contracted road tanker fleet operating out of a number of UK distribution points. In addition, Phillips 66 Limited supplies a network of approximately 330 independently owned petrol forecourts, all of which are branded JET.

Other markets served are aviation, marine and LPG. JET supplies some of the UK's growing secondary airports using owned and shared refuelling tankers and storage, and delivers to airlines through contracted refuelling operations. Marine markets are served using contracted vehicles, as is the LPG business.
