Financial accounting activities in support of the Europe Commercial and UK Marketing businesses. Shared responsibility for specific accounting areas and providing cover for these. Providing financial accounting expertise as part of a multidisciplined team, advising less experienced staff on accounting processes and internal control requirements. Investigating issues arising and developing creative solutions.
Financial Accounting tasks in support of ensuring timely and accurate monthly financial closing and reporting.
Providing cover and support to the Derivative Accountant in derivative accounting and preparation of required analyses and disclosures for external reporting of derivative activity.
Providing cover and support to the Commercial Accounting Lead in areas such as inventory accounting and external financial disclosures.
Developing reports to address business needs arising, and ad hoc queries to resolve one-time issues.
Performing activities required to maintain a strong internal control environment in accordance with SOX controls.
Working with external and internal auditors on audit fieldwork and data requests.
Ad hoc projects and tasks related to system implementations, new business, process changes and new reporting requirements.
Identification of opportunities to drive process efficiencies and implement these.
Critical Skills/Leadership Criteria
Hold the legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions, or meet the relevant criteria for employer sponsorship under the UK points-based immigration system
Strong financial and analytical background, with financial accounting experience, preferably having a recognised professional accountancy qualification.
Sound understanding of internal controls and how these should operate.
Strong Excel skills
Good attention to detail and ability to manage tasks in order to meet deadlines.
SAP knowledge and experience beneficial
Phillips 66 has significant marketing operations in Europe. In the UK the business is primarily wholesale, selling fuels to distributors (some of whom are branded JET) and resellers. The fuels are either collected by customers or delivered through a contracted road tanker fleet operating out of a number of UK distribution points. In addition, Phillips 66 Limited supplies a network of approximately 330 independently owned petrol forecourts, all of which are branded JET.
Other markets served are aviation, marine and LPG. JET supplies some of the UK's growing secondary airports using owned and shared refuelling tankers and storage, and delivers to airlines through contracted refuelling operations. Marine markets are served using contracted vehicles, as is the LPG business.
