Ponca City, Rotating Equipment Technician Internship: Interns will work with Rotating Equipment technicians daily in varying tasks on compressors, pumps, and fans. The internship includes work rotation in the Central shop doing tear downs and rebuilds as well as at the Field shops installing and removing equipment. You will work side-by-side with experienced craft professionals and recieve an introduction to Company practices, procedures and technical tools, technical training, and on- the-job training.
Responsibilities May Include
Shadowing and supporting experienced employees while effectively following all safety, health, environmental, maintenance, and operation practices and procedures
Assisting with repairs, troubleshoot, and maintain Refinery rotating equipment
Learning about health, safety and environmental hazards
Witnessing the work authorization permit system
Witnessing energy isolation (e.g. Lock, Tag & Try)
Learning how to recognize and report incidents and near-misses
Providing inspection, testing, and documentation of safety systems to meet OSHA regulations
Assisting with pre-startup safety reviews and new project technical reviews
Work schedule is normally days, Monday through Friday
Communicating well with all organizational levels and present information / ideas in an articulate and organized way
Expected to work effectively in a team environment

High School Diploma/GED equivalent
Currently enrolled in an accredited Associates of Applied Science or Bachelor's degree in Natural Gas Compression, Industrial Mechanical Technologies, Industrial Systems, or equivalent with a graduation date on or before August 2022?
Must be at least 18 years of age
Maintain a valid driver's license
Completed a minimum of 12 hours in the enrolled program
Available for a minimum of ten continuous weeks
Must be willing and able, with or without accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
Lift up to 50 pounds
Work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos
Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines
Climb up to 200 feet in height; work at elevated heights
Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear/eye protection)
Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly
Work outside in harsh weather conditions

The Ponca City Refinery is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, approximately 95 miles northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, medium and heavy crude oil delivered via pipeline from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, the U.S. Rockies and Canada. Infrastructure improvements have enabled the delivery of locally produced crude oil by pipeline and truck. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and anode-grade petroleum coke. Refined products are primarily distributed to customers by company-owned and common carrier pipelines to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
