The Mechanical Integrity Team Lead – Ponca City Refinery is accountable for leading the development, implementation and sustainability of the Mechanical Integrity (MI) systems to ensure operations with no uncontrolled release or other harm throughout the life of refinery fixed equipment and piping systems. This applies to Management, Operations, Maintenance and Inspection activities associated with applicable fixed equipment and piping systems. The Mechanical Integrity Team Lead is also accountable for supervising mechanical engineering staff and inspection staff, ensuring alignment with mechanical integrity required standards, procedures and practices.
Responsibilities May Include
Defining resources and plans to effectively implement and maintain site mechanical integrity systems and work processes.
Developing, implementing, and maintaining written MI required standards, procedures, guidelines and work instructions.
Effectively communicating MI policy and principles to all levels in the organization.
Management of the refinery fixed equipment inspection and defect elimination program.
Support development of the maintenance expense budget for the refinery.
Actively participate in Fixed Equipment Network activities, including development and reviews of best practices and standards, sharing of lessons learned, and providing technical consult as needed to other P66 refineries.
Stay apprised of industry knowledge in the area of fixed equipment reliability via membership and participation in industry groups such as NACE and API.
Assure compliance with Codes, State Laws, Refinery Standards, and Industry Practices required in the construction and/or repair of pressure vessels, piping and other pressure containing equipment.
Provide oversight for the Mechanical Integrity Department scope of work during unit shutdowns and turnarounds. Minimize non-budgeted, unplanned equipment repairs identified during turnarounds by promoting thorough and well planned on-stream inspections prior to turnaround.
With appropriate stakeholders, develop and oversee the 5-year look ahead on high cost equipment replacement items to allow for adequate capital and expense budgeting.
Provide guidance during capital project development to ensure proper designs, material of construction and MI standards and requirements are met.
Ensure document control systems and procedures are in place, are accurate, auditable and are maintained.

Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering
5 or more years of direct experience in a refinery, petrochemical, or similar industrial plant environment
3 or more years of previous supervisory experience
Technical competency as demonstrated by qualifications, certifications or education in multiple areas of expertise
Knowledge of mechanical integrity systems and processes
Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, cost and cost control

10 or more years of direct experience in a refinery, petrochemical, or similar industrial plant environment
Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering
Knowledgeable and conversant in requirements of ASME B31.3, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I, V, VIII and IX and API Inspection Codes 510, 570 and 653 and governmental laws and regulations
Exhibit strong and effective interpersonal as well as effective written and oral communication skills and able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Self starter, highly motivated, and willing and able to lead with strong customer and business focus
Demonstrated performance in making positive contributions toward meeting challenging team goals
Demonstrated performance in self leadership toward setting and meeting challenging individual goals
Previous experience as a Refinery Mechanical, Reliability or Metallurgical/Corrosion Engineer
Understanding of key business drivers for the refinery
Demonstrated drive and passion for defect elimination and failure avoidance
The Ponca City Refinery is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, approximately 95 miles northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, medium and heavy crude oil delivered via pipeline from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, the U.S. Rockies and Canada. Infrastructure improvements have enabled the delivery of locally produced crude oil by pipeline and truck. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and anode-grade petroleum coke. Refined products are primarily distributed to customers by company-owned and common carrier pipelines to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
