Description

Under the direction of the Training Team Lead, the Maintenance Training Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, developing, initiating, implementing, and improving the Rodeo Refinery Craft Training Program. This includes ensuring Basic Maintenance Training is provided to new hires, Training Needs Analyses are completed for each Craft worker, training is provided to address those needs, and Refresher Training is completed in a timely manner. The Coordinator develops practical and written training material to be delivered during instructor-led, on-the-job, and computer-based training. This position will serve as a training resource for all Maintenance designated/field trainers.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Acting as team lead or resource in developing technical skills in others

  • Audit, coordinate and manage training programs to align with refinery/federal/state/corporate requirements

  • Review processes and procedures as necessary to conform to refinery/corporate requirements

  • Perform quarterly audits of field trainers to ensure accuracy and consistency

  • Ensure training documentation retention adheres to federal/state/county/corporate requirements

  • Represent the training processes and programs during federal/state/corporate audits

  • Issuing routine monthly, quarterly, and annual progress and activity reports

  • Support field trainers. Serve as content-development specialist

  • Create lesson plans, training manuals, etc. used across disciplines for consistency

  • Assist all field trainers as necessary with content presentation

  • Provide “train the trainer” training to the field trainers on training techniques and learning styles

  • Support all aspects of the training process

  • Facilitate and deliver On Board and Basic Maintenance Training (BMT) for various subjects in the classroom and in the field for new hires

  • Facilitate and track initial and refresher craft specific employee training to ensure completion

  • Facilitate final testing and qualification for initial craft specific training

  • Facilitate Subject Matter Expert (SME) training

  • Facilitate performance results. Ensures mechanics are performing throughout the probationary period

  • Audit craft specific and refresher training material for adherence to refinery/corporate requirements

  • Align Mentor program with New Hire

  • Work with each Superintendent to develop and implement annual training plans for assigned area(s)

  • Develop, administer, and track training driven by a Management of Change (MOC) or PHA, as needed

  • Develop, administer, and track training for changes to procedures

  • Develop and deliver formal instructor-led training as needed

  • Facilitate and administer corporate-driven training, as needed

  • Provide vendor training management/engagement

  • Support and participate in rolling out AE66 projects

Position Requirements

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • 3 or more years industrial maintenance experience

  • Possess and maintain valid driver’s license

  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • 3 or more years of experience with training personnel

  • 5 or more years refinery experience

  • 1 or more years of supervisory experience

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Self-motivated and driven to succeed

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work computer applications associated with training (Microsoft Office, SAP, Digital Work Orders, Electronic Permitting, Mobility Digital Technology, and others)

  • Demonstrates influence management skills

  • Strong planning and project management skills

  • Ability to lead and influence others, interdependent of reporting relationship and position within the organization

The San Francisco Refinery consists of two facilities linked by a 200-mile pipeline. The Santa Maria facility is located in Arroyo Grande, California, 200 miles south of San Francisco, California, while the Rodeo facility is in the San Francisco Bay Area. Semi-refined liquid products from the Santa Maria facility are shipped by pipeline to the Rodeo facility for upgrading into finished petroleum products. Facilities include crude distillation, naphtha reforming, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units, as well as a calciner. The San Francisco Refinery processes a mixture of heavy, high sulfur and light sweet crude oil. It receives California crude oil by pipeline, and both domestic and foreign crude oil by tanker. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. It also produces CARB-grade gasoline. Other products include petroleum coke. The majority of the refined products are distributed to California by pipeline and barge. Additional refined products are also exported to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
