The Refining Electrical Craft New Hire will participate in training programs which provides opportunities for career success through hands-on learning and training experiences. New Hires apply subject matter knowledge learned in a certificate or associate program to the workplace and develop technical and interpersonal skills in the workplace. It is important to participate as contributing and active members of their craft team
We are currently hiring entry-level Electrical Craft New Hire openings at the following location:
• Sweeny Refinery – Old Ocean, TX
Responsibilities may include:
Working on electric motors, complex shutdown systems, UPS systems, PILC terminations, EPR cable terminations, relay testing - microprocessor and electromechanical substation maintenance, substation breaker maintenance, medium voltage and high voltage substation battery testing, transformer maintenance, testing breaker control schemes and other associated equipment.
Troubleshooting, dismantling, repairing and reassembling disabled equipment following verbal and written safety and job task work directions.
Reading and interpreting manuals, standards, schematics, wiring diagrams and federal, state and local codes and regulations.
Requirements for a Phillips 66 Technical New Hire:
Basic Required:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
High School Diploma/GED equivalent
Enrolled as a full-time student in an electrical program or equivalent technical program with a graduation date in Spring 2021
Must be at least 18 years of age
Maintain a valid driver's license
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
Must be willing and able, with or without accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
Lift up to 50 pounds
Available for call outs including holidays and weekends
Work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos
Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines
Climb up to 200 feet in height; work at elevated heights
Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear/eye protection)
Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly
Work outside in harsh weather conditions
Overtime and/or shift work for extended periods of time depending on workload/schedule
Preferred:
• Previous internship or co-op participant in related industry
• Previous internship with Phillips 66
• Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, electrical logic and loop diagrams, motor control center breakers, starters and switch gear
• Ability to understand and carry out work direction in a safe manner
• Ability to read/comprehend manuals, schematics, blueprints, graphs, charts, and diagrams
• Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and identify corrective actions
• Experience in using test equipment and procedures, National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable government and plant standards/regulations (OSHA, ANSI, health, and safety), lock out/tag out procedures, unit start-up/shut-down procedures
• Experience using the following items: hand tools, measurement tools and devices and power tools
• Work without close supervision
